the fun shoot... toby + anika:

I can't even tell you how happy being a photographer makes me! Today is my birthday and I couldn't wait to show you this new shoot! And although Toby and Anika are absolutely adorable... no, they are not models. It was such a joy for me to be able to put together this shoot. Although I am currently a 100% digital shooter, my heart has always been with film. My love for photography began with film and I have always longed for the day when I would shoot film for my business. After spending years mastering my digital photography I have also created a huge space in my heart for digital as well.... and yes it has become a huge part of who I am as a photographer and what my clients fall in love with. So my goal is to start off shooting 10% film and moving closer and closer to shooting more and more film... will I ever give up digital... no way. Do I think digital is less great than film... nope it's just different, but film is my heart... and I want my heart to be happy. When I see a film image my heart skips a beat. So here's to living for my heart! See if you can figure out which images are film (*hint: there is about 10%... some 35mm, some medium format) Thank you SOOOOOO much Toby and Anika for being my guinea pigs and letting me play dress up! You were AMAZING!!! xoxo Shannon

Hi ALL! thank you SO much for your wonderful comments!!! I bought this dress for $20 at American Vintage on Melrose Ave. in Hollywood, and I bought the crinoline skirt at Aardvarks for $45. I just LOVE vintage!

Sorry... I don't think they do. When I go into those Vintage places I never know what I'm going to get. The more I look the more gems I find. I think that dress was probably made in the 70's. The same store will be totally different month after month because they just keep getting new wonderful items. Good luck on your search... if I ever find another... I will definitely let you know!

Lot's of LOVE!

Wow! What a great set of photos. I am sure you--and the couple--are pumped about them. I saw your bio over on Jon's Film is Not Dead blog, and jumped over to check out your blog. You are super fortunate to be attending the workshop--when I can afford it, I will definitely be attending as well!

So, your challenge to discern film from digital was quite demanding. With most photos, it is really easy, but your processing of the digi files is pretty flawless. Not to mention the fantastic colors in these photos. So here is my guess: images 6, 7, 9, 13, and maybe 19 & 21?

Either way--film or digi--you killed these.
